Notifications & Reminders
Set up push notifications and rite reminders to stay on track.
How Notifications Work
Oktant sends push notifications to keep you on track with your quests and rites. Notifications work on all platforms — iOS, Android, and Web.
There are two types of notifications: Rite Reminders that you schedule for specific times, and Activity Notifications for crew events like quest invitations and completions.
Enabling Notifications
Before Oktant can send you notifications, you need to grant permission on your device.
- ●On mobile: You'll be prompted when you first enable a reminder. You can also manage permissions in your device's Settings app under Oktant.
- ●On web: Your browser will show a permission dialog when you first enable a reminder. Look for the bell or lock icon in the address bar to manage permissions later.
- ●You can enable or disable notification categories from your Profile → Notification Settings.
Setting Rite Reminders
Each rite in a quest can have its own reminder. Reminders are set to a specific time of day and respect your local timezone.
- ●Open a quest and tap the bell icon, or go to the quest menu → Notifications.
- ●Toggle reminders on for each rite you want to be reminded about.
- ●Set the time you'd like to be reminded. Times are in 5-minute increments.
- ●Reminders fire based on your rite's schedule — daily rites remind every day, weekly rites only on their scheduled days.
Set your reminder for when you actually want to do the rite, not just when you want to remember it. The reminder message will show the rite name and quest.
Notification Categories
You can control which types of notifications you receive from Profile → Notification Settings.
- ●Reminders: Rite reminder notifications at your scheduled times.
- ●Crew: Notifications about crew invitations, quest completions, and member activity.
- ●Activity: General quest activity like completions and milestones.
- ●News: Product updates and new features.
- ●Tips: Helpful suggestions and best practices.
Pausing and Resuming Reminders
Reminders are automatically managed when you change a quest's status.
- ●Pausing a quest stops all its rite reminders. They'll resume automatically when you unpause.
- ●Completing or abandoning a quest permanently removes its reminders.
- ●Restoring an abandoned quest brings back its reminders with the original settings.
Your reminder settings are saved even when a quest is paused, so you don't need to reconfigure them.
Troubleshooting
If you're not receiving notifications, check these common issues.
- ●Make sure notifications are enabled in your device or browser settings.
- ●Check that the notification category is enabled in Profile → Notification Settings.
- ●On web, ensure you haven't blocked notifications for the Oktant site.
- ●On mobile, check that Oktant isn't restricted by battery optimization or Do Not Disturb settings.
